Rose Cottage has some stunning views of Launceston Castle and the surrounding valley. Dating back to the 13th Century, the castle is one of the most important heritage sites not only in Cornwall but the entire UK. Once a prison, it played host to George Fox, founder of the Quakers, the most famous detainee. Inside the castle grounds visitors can walk around the motte on a grassy pathway, and there are a number of nice seating areas (benches and grassed areas) on which visitors can take a rest....Click to view web site

Lawrence House, Launceston, is a fine Georgian house built in 1753, located in a street which John Betjeman described as ‘having the most perfect collection of 18th Century townhouses in Cornwall’. It is owned by the National Trust and leased to Launceston Town Council, who use it to house the town museum, and as a civic centre.
